Meet The 20 Best Achievers Of The World Who Touched The Sky

You may have watched and dreamt of climbing the highest mountains. We salute this spirit and hence, pick our favorite people from the world of mountaineers. So, as per us, they all are winners, and we cannot rank them in any particular sequence. 

  1. Chris Sharma

Chris Omprakash Sharma became a Bouldering National Champion at the age of 14, and by 15, he was already a 5.14c climber. He has climbed the hardest climbs in Spain’s Catalonia region and on Realization, a sport climbing route near Gap and Ceuse in France. He has claimed that the La Dura Dura is the toughest climb ever. 

  1. Stefano Ghisolfi

The champ, Stefano Ghisolfi, has been a standout, especially as being one of the only 5 people to climb the 5.15c ascent of Perfecto Mundo. He has even climbed the 5.14 b Fish Eye route. He has participated in three disciplines of Speed, Lead, and Bouldering. 

  1. Adam Ondra

Born in the Czech Republic, this young climber has aced the Silence in Flatanger, Norway. He has won over 18 gold medals and has crossed over 184 and more of 9A routes. He has partnerships with the likes of sports and rock climbing gear brands like Black Diamond. 

  1. Alex Honnold

Born in California, this free solo and speed climber had his first free solo ascent on the El Captain climb in 2017. He has authored Alone on the Wall with David Roberts, a memoir. In 2018, he had won a BAFTA and an Academy Award for his documentary Free Solo.

  1. Steph Davis

Steph Davis has spent her time in Illinois and later chosen to do bouldering in the El Captain in Yosemite. She is famous as a BASE jumper and for her free solo on a 5.11-grade ascent. She is among the first woman to climb the Fitzroy range in Patagonia and Salathe Wall on El Captain and Torre Egger. 

  1. Shauna Coxsey

She made it big in her first V13 boulder problem when she was only 20. She won the British record of speed climbing, taking only 9.141 seconds in this 2019 Olympic Qualifier. 

  1. Ashima Shiraishi

Born in New York, Ashima specializes in sport climbing. Though many might consider her height to be not favoring her in climbing, her agility is awe-inspiring. She has climbed a Grade 9A/ 9A+route of Open Your Mind Direct and Ciudad de Dios in Santa Linya in Spain. 

  1. Catherine Destivelle

Catherine Destivelle was the first woman to ascend the Eiger’s North face under 15 hours. She has climbed other tough routes like the Southwest pillar of the Aiguille du Dru and Matterhorn’s north face, the Walker Spur of the Grandes Jorasses. However, she has also soloed El Puro, Mallos de Riglos in Spain, and Scotland’s Old Man of Hoy. 

  1. Alex Megos

As an expert Sport and bouldering climber, this German-based climber has climbed the Siruana, Spain’s Estado Critico. He has aced this on-sight climb, a 9a grade ascent, among other boulder problems. He has participated in several international events. 

  1. Dean Potter

A free climber and a BASE Jumper, Dean Potter, has climbed the Yosemite’s and the Patagonian highlands. His ascent to fame was The Reticent Wall on El Captain under 35 hours. His climb of the Delicate Arch in the Arches National Park has fetched him fame. 

  1. Rishat Khaibullin

Son of a traditionalist climber, Rishat Khiabullin is a sports climber and a speed climber. He is an expert in three disciplines with great style bouldering as his specialty. He fetched the third position in the Hachioji qualifiers. He was also the first athlete from CIS.

  1. Lynn Hill

Lynn Hill has spent over 10 years in this field as a trendsetting woman and has become a legendary rock climber herself. She has ascended the vertical face of the El Captain. She has done a free climb of The Nose, one of the most treacherous technical routes. 

  1. Jacob Schubert 

Jacob Schubert has become a professional competition climber, finishing second in Hachioji and then in Cataluna and even the Perfecto Mundo. He has bouldered up to V15 grade and even on the hard ascents of 5.15c. He has been winning several competitions.

  1. Sasha DiGiulian

Born in Virginia, USA, Sasha DiGiulian has earned fame for multi-discipline climbing and sport climbing. She has become the first female to ascend the Mora Mora in Madagascar. She also became the second ever to do a free-ascent up this route. 

  1. Tommy Caldwell

Tommy Caldwell is famous for climbing The North, with his wife, Beth Rodders, becoming the first couple. Tommy Caldwell has taken great interest in big-wall and speed-climbing. He has climbed the toughest walls like the Flex Luthor of Colorado and Kryptonite. 

  1. Sebastian Bouin

The climber also has an alias of Undercover Crusher and is one of the most famous ones to ascend the Chilam Balam, a 5.15b graded wall. He is the first to climb the Dream and La Rage D’Adam. He has also climbed 7 routes that were 5.15a or harder. 

  1. Beth Rodden

Beth Rodden has been the youngest woman climber to grade 5.14a. She is the wife of Tommy Caldwell, and together they have climbed The North Face. She is also the youngest woman to ascend the 5.14a wall and even redpoint a 5.14c traditional climb. 

  1. Tomoa Narasaki

Narasaki has aced in the indoor climbing segment. He has won 17 world cup boulders and earned 4th position in Hachioji’s qualifier. He has earned fame in speed climbing. 

  1. John Long

With over 42 titles under his belt, this Californian climber has become a member of the prestigious rock climbing group called the ‘Stonemasters.’ He has been active in BASE jumping and alpine climbing. 

  1. Janja Garnbredt

She is one of the firebrand climbers while participating in over 31 Lead World Cup events. She has earned 15 gold medals and World Cup bouldering events.
